Beach weather again!

Woo Hoo!  It’s beach weather again in Barcelona! With temperatures topping 20C (68F) most days both we’re joining the locals and tourists alike who are heading for the miles of beach along Barcelona’s coast.  We thought you might be interested in some more detail of the beaches you can head to:

There are over 3 miles of beaches in Barcelona, starting at San Sebastian and Barceloneta and stretching North all the way along almost to Diagonal Mar.  For us, here’s how they break down:

San Sebastian / Barceloneta (Barceloneta or Ciutadella Vila Olimpica Metros): Tourists and locals mix here, probably the busiest of the beaches.  There’s a breakwater part way along making the sea a little calmer.

Nova Icaria / Bogatell (Ciutadella Vila Olimpica Metro):  A little more family and local oriented, but still plenty to do for the tourist.

Mar Bella / Nova Mar Bella / Llevant (Poble Nou Metro): The least crowded, but also furthest from the action – the walk from the Metro is at least 15 mins.

Check out the definitive Barcelona council’s guide to the beaches, including swimming conditions, water quality and even jellyfish sightings!

Or if you fancy something a bit more authentic and local, head down the coast (trains go every half hour from Estacion de Francia, Passeig de Gracia and Sants) to Platja Castelldefels.

Enjoy!
