Get messy with Calçots

Calçots are in season again – the wonderful, messy onion/leek cross that is a Catalan speciality is back in season and available at restaurants across the city.

Drown them in Romesco sauce, lift them above your mouth and suck out the oniony innards. Not for those who prefer knife and fork eating – don’t forget the bib that’s usually provided before you tuck in.

Try L’Antic Forn in the backstreets of Raval where they are a speciality.
